Convenor: Jens-Christian Djurhuus
Scientific Chair: Jens-Peter Norgaard
The meeting was held at the Arhuus Concert Hall with the exhibition in the Ridehus, a former military building next door.
Special features
There was a focus on children’s continence issues, in keeping with the significant work around the topic of enuresis work undertaken in Arhuus, and led by Jens-Christian Djurhuus. He was a member of the ICS Standardisation Committee. Later he was the first General Secretary of the International Children’s Continence Society (ICCS).
As an omen of the success for the forthcoming congress, the first delegate to register did so seven months before the meeting, a Swede with the name Hurtig (= fast)!
Prof Djurhuus noted “We had been advised to make space for approximately 450 active participants. Before the meeting 500 had signed up, and we ended up with approximately 800 participants.
The weather behaved fantastically in spite of it being the second week of September, so one of the events could actually be more or less outside until early morning with Manfred Stohrer as lead saxophone.
During the gala dinner we were seated by a computer which totally disregarded that people wanted to sit next to the people they usually are sitting to back home, a major change in tradition. Unfortunately, I have not seen it since.
After the meeting delegates travelled by ferry and train to Copenhagen where there was a big party for Bjorn Klevmark at the Tivoli Gardens for his 65th birthday. It was the last night of the season before the Tivoli closed for the winter.
