At ICS 2008 in Cairo a workshop was held presenting cultural barriers and continence awareness in the Middle East. The workshop was chaired by Diaa E.E. Rizk, Egypt, who held a workshop introduction. Speakers were Ahmed Al-Badr, Saudi Arabia, Vasan S Srini, India, Diane Newman, USA and Diaa E.E. Rizk. During the meeting the Public Forum in Rotterdam was reviewed and the World Continence week, initiated by the Continence Promotion Committee of ICS, was launched.
