London Cadaver Masterclass 2016 on Female Pelvic Anatomy and Surgery: An interactive hands on masterclass with fresh frozen cadavers

Hands on training course on female pelvis anatomy and surgical treatment of female stress urinary incontinence & pelvic organ prolapse

Course Director: Mr A Digesu Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, Urogynaecology Subspecialist and Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at St. Mary’s Hospital, Imperial College of London, UK.

Aim: The cadaver lab will be a training experience focused on you and your need, with a maximum of four trainees per cadaver (fresh frozen). This gives you a really focused opportunity to put into practice what you are learning during the course.

The course is approved by ICS and an application will be made to the EACCME for CME accreditation, thus Continuing Medical Education (CME) / Continuous Professional Development (CPD) points can be applied to the needs of individual professionals.

This Masterclass has been designed for clinicians and surgeons wanting to advance their knowledge on the surgical skills in female pelvic anatomy, as well as surgical treatment of female stress urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse repair.

A large proportion of the course is hands on in the cadaver lab, where you will be able to: * Refresh your knowledge of female pelvic anatomy * Identify key anatomical landmarks * Practice the incontinence and prolapse procedures from start to finish * Post procedure dissection – to review accuracy * Ask anatomical or surgical “hands on” related questions

The didactic sessions will cover the following topics: * Recently published reports on prolapse and stress urinary incontinence surgical procedures * The published scientific evidence on the safety, short and long term efficacy of the mesh augmented prolapse repair and different surgical treatments of stress urinary incontinence * How to avoid surgical complications * Litigation discussion led by a UK based lawyer

For this session, cadaveric prosections, video clip of different surgical procedures will also be used.

The practical sessions will include “hands on” fresh frozen cadavers and silicone pelvis mannequins/simulators covering the surgical techniques as well as technical tricks for various anti-incontinence and reconstructive vaginal surgical procedures. Delegates will be instructed and guided through the surgical steps how to perform all the mid-urethral sling approaches (retropubic top-bottom, bottom-top, transobturator, mini-sling), transvaginal reconstructive pelvis surgery and how to avoid/manage surgically mesh related complications.
