Aims and Objectives
|
With a growing aging population, the prevalence of neurodegenerative and vascular disorders affecting the brain is increasing. Health care professionals are becoming aware about lower urinary tract (LUT) symptoms in these disorders, however opportunities to learn about the real-life management of incontinence in these are disorders are few.
A workshop dedicated to the management of LUT dysfunction in cerebral disorders therefore fills a void in currently available training opportunities for health care professionals with an interest in continence. The aim of this workshop is to familiarize health care professionals with lower urinary tract (LUT) dysfunction occurring in patients with cerebral disorders and its management.
Learning Objectives - To review the neurological basis for LUT dysfunction following neurodegerative disorders.
- To explore LUT dysfunction in common brain disorders, namely Parkinson’s Disease and Dementia
- To provide an update on the conservative and medical management of LUT dysfunction in patients with neurodegenerative brain disorders, and the anticholinergic burden.
