Identifying Knowledge Gaps and Research Priorities for Multidisciplinary Rectal and Posterior Vaginal Prolapse Care

The pelvic floor disorders consortium (PFDC) is a voluntary group of experts convened to advance the clinical care of pelvic floor disorders and includes specialists in colorectal, urology, urogynecology, radiology, and pelvic floor physical therapy. To address knowledge gaps in rectal and posterior vaginal prolapse care the PFDC created a core descriptor set for date collection through expert consensus. As the next step, we are reviewing the current status of rectal prolapse research, identifying knowledge gaps and research priorities by engaging stakeholders in surveys and listening sessions. Preliminary findings will be shared and discussed during the ASCRS 2024 meeting. During the ICS 2024 meeting we will review finalized results and would like to invite ICS attendees to share their priorities and insights through interactive discussions. We aim to develop a collaborative research agenda with the long term goal of improving rectal and posterior vaginal wall prolapse care.
