Travel Smart for ICS-EUS 2025

Peace of Mind While You Travel

We’re excited to welcome you to ICS-EUS 2025 Abu Dhabi! To help you plan with confidence, we’ve put together a few travel tips to make your journey as smooth as possible. While we don’t expect any disruptions, we recommend considering travel insurance that includes coverage for conference-related changes, just as a smart precaution. It’s all about peace of mind, so you can focus on what matters: connecting, learning, and sharing your work.

Comprehensive Travel Insurance with Optional “Cancel for Any Reason” (CFAR) Coverage

We want your journey to ICS-EUS 2025 to be as smooth and stress-free as possible. While we don’t anticipate any disruptions, travel plans can change for many reasons. So we recommend considering comprehensive travel insurance with optional CFAR coverage for added peace of mind.

1. Comprehensive Travel Insurance
This typically covers:

  • Trip cancellation or interruption (for covered reasons like illness or injury)
  • Medical emergencies
  • Lost luggage or travel delays
  • Emergency evacuation

Note: Standard policies may not cover changes related to conference logistics unless they result in direct financial loss and meet specific criteria.

2. Optional Add-On: Cancel for Any Reason (CFAR)
CFAR coverage gives you flexibility to cancel your trip for reasons not usually covered by standard policies, such as:

  • Personal decisions not to travel (e.g. due to health concerns or travel advisories)
  • Changes in your schedule or preferences
  • Unexpected changes to the event that don’t qualify under standard policy terms

Note: CFAR typically reimburses 50–75% of your prepaid, non-refundable costs.

To qualify for CFAR:

  • Purchase it within 10–21 days of your initial trip payment
  • Insure 100% of your trip cost
  • Cancel at least 48 hours before your scheduled departure

Getting Around Abu Dhabi

Your Guide to Safe Transport at ICS-EUS 2025

Stay safe while exploring the city

  • Safe in most areas, especially around Corniche, Yas Island, and Saadiyat.
  • Be cautious at crosswalks—always wait for the green pedestrian light.
  • Avoid walking long distances during midday heat (11am–3pm).
  • Use designated pedestrian crossings only — jaywalking is illegal and subject to fines.
  • Wear comfortable shoes – many areas have long walking distances.
    Public Transport
  • Buses are clean, affordable, and air-conditioned.
  • Use the Hafilat smart card for bus rides (can be purchased at stations or malls).
  • Download the Darbi app for real-time bus routes and schedules.

Careem Bike

  • Great for short distances or scenic routes.
  • Bike stations available in select areas like the Corniche.
  • Download the Careem Bike app to rent and unlock bikes.
  • Temperatures can reach around 40°C in September, so using air-conditioned taxis may be a more comfortable and practical way to get around.

Car Rentals

  • Available at the airport and major hotels.
  • You’ll need a valid international driving license. Drive on the right-hand side, and watch for speed cameras.
  • ADNEC (where the conference is being held) offers around 6,000 parking spaces, plus valet and 24 hour traffic support.
  • Peak traffic hours: 7:30–9:30am and 4:30–6:30pm. Plan extra travel time if heading to your destination during these periods.
