This interactive, case-based workshop will address contemporary reconstructive surgical strategies for managing neurogenic lower urinary tract dysfunction (nLUTD). Through detailed case discussions, the session will highlight the clinical reasoning, indications, and decision-making processes behind various reconstructive options. The workshop also aims to emphasize a multidisciplinary and individualized approach, underscoring how neurological status, caregiver availability, social context, and lifestyle preferences critically influence treatment planning and outcomes.

Learning Objectives

  • Recognize the most common conditions and complications that may require reconstructive surgical intervention in patients with neurogenic lower urinary tract dysfunction (nLUTD).
  • Understand the critical influence of non-urological factors—such as neurological deficits, caregiver support, and social or lifestyle conditions—on treatment planning and decision-making.
  • Describe the principal surgical strategies for patients with refractory neurogenic detrusor overactivity, low-compliance bladder, or neurogenic sphincter deficiency, including reconstructive options and indications for urinary diversion.
