Robotic Urinary Tract and Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery

01/06/2026 16:01:27

Introducing the new ICS Robotic Surgery Committee, this round table will explore the present and future of robotic urinary tract and pelvic reconstructive surgery.

Robotic platforms offer clear advantages in our field: a minimal invasive approach with improved access to narrow cavities and enlarged 3D vision, endo-wrist technology and improved surgeon ergonomics for challenging procedures. Systems continue to evolve, expanding their application beyond feasibility.

Highly relevant procedures for both functional urologists and urogynaecologists will be showcased by experts in the field: colposacropexy, bladder augmentation, prostatectomy for benign prostatic enlargement, and treatment of vesicovaginal fistulae. Through these topics, the panel will discuss how robotics currently contribute to the management of these complex benign pelvic conditions and what it has already changed in daily practice. The approach offers more therapeutic options to more patients, due to improved recovery, and the potential of refined and more targeted surgical techniques even in complex cases.

The discussion will also address future developments and challenges: dissemination of expertise through telementoring or -surgery, the digital (r)evolution, and the challenges of training in low volume highly complex interventions.

This round table will provide delegates with an updated multidisciplinary view of robotic urinary tract and pelvic reconstructive surgery, and where it is likely to have the greatest impact in the coming years.
