Urology, Urogynaecology and Female & Functional Urology

The workshop aims to guide attendees in their first practical steps to become a robotic urinary tract and pelvic floor reconstructive surgeon. There currently is no certification or validated curriculum. The objective is to provide:

  • Knowledge and insights in dry-lab (including hands-on at ICS 2026), wet-lab and associated specialty (e.g. oncological surgery) proficiency training, and guidance on finding (tele-)mentors and proctors
  • Practical illustration through videos of how these proficiencies are transferable to robotic urinary tract and pelvic floor reconstruction for (multicompartmental) prolapse, vesicovaginal fistula, female (stress) urinary incontinence, and mesh removal.

Learning Objectives

  • The attendee has gained knowledge on the different dry-lab and wet-lab methods and models to learn basic robotic (urinary tract and pelvic floor reconstructive) surgery proficiencies: tissue handling and quality evaluation without tactile feedback, plane development / dissection, and suturing (including anastomosis suturing). Simulator and dry-lab exposure will be available at ICS 2026.
  • The attendee has identified their personal learning trajectory to further develop these proficiencies in patients: knowledge of (tele-)mentors and proctors, insights in how associated specialty procedures (e.g. oncological procedures) can be a pathway to learn certain steps of robotic urinary tract and pelvic floor reconstructive surgery
  • The attendee has acquired practical insights, tips and tricks on how to combine these proficiencies to perform robotic urinary tract and pelvic floor reconstructive procedures such as sacrocolpopexy, rectopexy, vesicovaginal fistula repair, colposuspension, autologous fascial bladder neck sling, artificial urinary sphincter, bladder neck closure, and mesh removal.
