  • Optical micro-cavities: Investigated the Difference in spectral bands while varying the separation between to micro-thick layers of silver.
  • Astronomical Databases: Using data from the 2-Micron-All-Sky-Survey we made a computer program in the C programming language, to make an extinction map of the Flame Nebula.

Skills and Experience

I have programming experience in Basic, Visual Basic, Matlab, C, C# and Labview 8.0. I am familiar with Microsoft Windows 98, XP, Mac OS 9 operating systems. I have used Microsoft Excel, Word, Publisher, FrontPage and PowerPoint.

I feel that I am flexible and approachable and enjoy problem solving and applying myself to all problems and challenges.

During my previous work placements and throughout my educational career, I have developed good communication skills and have worked both alone and as part of multidisciplined teams.

Employment /Work Experience

Since graduating I have been temping at William Lea - Batching and Scanning on an ongoing basis until such time as I find a permanent role within Programming and IT.

Qioptiq -Manufacturer of precision optical systems (Undergraduate Placement) June-Aug 2006

Working in the R+D department to develop a user-friendly software package in product testing. This involved leasing with test personnel to identify their requirements and developing software using Labview v8.0 communicating with existing hardware devices along with installing the software, integration and modifications and training of personnel.

Nant Hall Restaurant / Bar July 2005-April 2006

General bar and restaurant work including taking orders, bookings and looking after customers. This work has helped to develop good communication skills.

Geac Solutions - Work experience 2 weeks in 2001

Helped to provide IT support for the internal staff and produced web pages on their intranet to help speed up the general operation of the company by providing staff with online access to contacts and other important information.
