Dear CPC members,

The office (myself and Roger) have been working on new WCW resource information, please see the attached. This information will be in additional to the current information available on the ICS website. Please note in order to place this online I have had to Pdf all documents but the event announcement poster and press release document will be in word format, so that members can amend the text to their personal information.

I would be interested in receiving your feedback on these documents. I would also like to request your assistance for an additional document that we would like to create- A WCW event ideas document. I have asked Diane Newman to work on this but all suggestions are welcome! I would like it to be A4, 2 sides long- just giving some helpful ideas/suggestions on how to set up a WCW event (for people new to the event.)

Please could I receive your feedback by Monday 15th April- so that we can get this information online ready for WCW 2013!

Kind Regards

Jenny

Hi Jacky,

I am pleased you like it! We did have a few more ideas for the pack but due to Roger's workload it would have been difficult for us to complete these in time for 2013. So we are aiming to add these to the pack for 2014. But we obviously welcome all ideas and suggestions from the CPC members- anything you can think of that will help encourage members to host a WCW would be greatly received.

Kind Regards

Jenny

The whole ICS website is being radically redesigned, but this is taking time.

Great designs. My only query is that while the note to editors contains information in point 5 about the mission of the ICS mentioning pelvic dysfunction, the emphasis elsewhere is totally on incontinence, with pelvic dysfunction and chronic pelvic pain excluded. Could the CPC consider including this in the coming years?

Hi All,

Els to confirm the new website will have a section dedicated to patients/CPC, this will be going live in the coming months.

Jane- I can add this now and email you a copy to review, if you would like me to? Let me know, this information isn't live yet so I have time to make changes.

Kind Regards

Jenny

Hi All,

Nicole has raised 2 points regarding the packs and I wondered if the committee members could respond. Below are the questions;

1. You talk about 200 million people worldwide. I am used to work with much higher numbers. 400-500 million. It is of course dependent on the definition of incontinence, but I was wondering if 200 is the official figure the ICS is using?

2. In the aim of the ICS the focus mentioned is on the medical condition and cure. Are prevention and care not in the aims of ICS, or do I just misinterpret?

To confirm all of the information in the packs was taken from the ICS website, should the data/information be incorrect then I would be happy to update both the pack and website.

Kind Regards

Jenny

I think this emphasises that all texts on the website have to be gone through very carefully to make sure that all statements are fully in line with the mission of the ICS:
"INTERNATIONAL CONTINENCE SOCIETY MISSION STATEMENT: The International Continence Society is a registered charity with a global health focus which strives to improve the quality of life for people affected by urinary, bowel and pelvic floor disorders by advancing basic and clinical science through education, research, and advocacy."
I think Nicole is absolutely right regarding prevention and care since much of the science is aimed at prevention.
And the figures should cover all the disorders mentioned in the mission statement.

Hi Jane,

I am able to change the figures from 200 to 400-500 as this is under the WCW page. But any changed to the mission statement would need to be approved by the Board of Trustees- as we would need to change the articles and bylaws to reflect this change.

Kind Regards

No change is needed to the mission statement. It's the other way round, texts on the website need to reflect the mission statemenbt.

Thanks for all the valuable comments.
I agree about the prevention and care comments and about upping the numbers. We generally take a figure of around 360 for incontinence and then additional figures for other pelvic floor disorders. so about 400 - 500 is about right in my opinion.

Hi Jane,

Sorry I thought the change was to point 5 on the press template, which is the mission statement. Any other points can easily be changed.

Hi Jenny,
I was referring to the official mission statement which is at the top of the ICS home page. All other "mission" statements - including point 5 - must be the same as this.

I believe the 200 million is from a published article. I am not aware of a publication that notes worldwide prevalence at 400 to 500 million. Is there one?

Dear All,

The final piece to be added to the WCW resource pack is the events ideas page. I would like to thank Tomasz and UroConti for the information that they have provided. In order to add this to the WCW pack I have had to amend the branding information- so that it has ICS WCW branding. I have also slightly amended some of the wording- please see the attached document.

I would like to add this to the resource pack but would first like to give the Committee an opportunity to review and comment on this information. Please could you provide your feedback by Tuesday 7th May.

Kind Regards

Jenny
