Convenor: Eric Glen

The Scientific Committee was formed by David Rowan and Eric Glen

17 countries were represented at the Conference, including two from behind the Iron Curtain. 150 delegates attended.

The Welcome Ceremony was held at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow

There was also a Civic reception and welcome by the Lord Provost, who hosted a dinner in the magnificent City Chambers, followed by an excursion to a performance of the Edinburgh Festival Tattoo at Edinburgh Castle.

The Gala Dinner was held in the internationally renowned Central Hotel.

There was a tour of Culzean Castle which contains a flat gifted to Eisenhower in recognition of his contribution to the 2nd World War effort.

The meeting programme acknowledged the support of several companies, but of interest this included The Distillers Company, who donated miniatures of whisky, one for each delegate.
