Hand-Assisted Laparoscopy: Nephrectomy, Nephroureterectomy and Partial Nephrectomy

Course Director: Steven Shichman, MD Under the direction of Dr. Shichman, expert faculty will provide training to a maximum of 20 urologists who are interested in acquiring or expanding their skills in laparoscopic surgery. Prior experience in lap surgery is helpful but not a prerequisite. A brief course description is as follows: • Didactic presentations will cover indications, contraindications, patient selection, and preparation and positioning for surgery. • Lectures and video presentations will detail operating room setup, instrumentation and step-by-step surgical techniques for performing radical nephrectomy, partial nephrectomy and nephroureterectomy. • Lab session will offer hands-on experience in a supervised animate laboratory practicum.
