Abstract Prizes awarded at the ICS Annual Meeting

The ICS Scientific Committee honours the highest scoring abstracts every year. There are three overall highest scoring abstract prizes:

  • Best Clinical Abstract
  • Best Non-clinical Abstract
  • Best Video

Scores are awarded by the ICS Scientific Committee Members, External Reviewers and Scientific Session Chairs. Abstracts are judged on the following criteria:

  • Scientific Merit
  • Originality / Topicality
  • Clinical Relevance

The prize certificate and award of €500 is presented by the Chairman of the Annual Meeting at the closing ceremony to the abstract author.

Best in Category

Prizes are also awarded to the highest scoring abstract in each Category.

The winner will receive a certificate at the closing ceremony and the award details will be published as best in category in the ICS Continence journal.

Best Ethics Presentation Award

The ICS Ethics Committee also award the “Best Ethics Presentation Award”. This award will be judged by the ICS Ethics Committee and recognises the best ethics-related ICS presentation, highlighting an ethical principle of autonomy, beneficence, nonmaleficence, or justice. The ICS recognises that ethics is an integral part of the fabric of what you do and strives to honour and bring awareness to your work dedicated to this topic.

A monetary prize of €500 along with a certificate will be presented during the closing ceremony. Applications can include:

  • case presentations that highlight an actual ethical dilemma occurring in daily practice with discussion regarding resolution of the issue
  • the application of ethical principles to research or health care in developing countries would also be suitable subjects.

Interested applicants who wish to enter the competition should answer YES to the ethics award eligibility question when submitting your abstract.

Essity Sponsored Toileting and Containment Care Abstract Award

This award is open to all health care professionals with an interest in the daily toileting and containment care included within the scientific programme who meet the following criteria: abstract contains original research; treatment focus is on toileting and containment care (non-pharmaceutical/non-surgical) for older adults with faecal or urinary incontinence. Abstracts must be related to daily toileting and containment strategies in older adults. Abstracts must be in the categories: Continence Care Products/ Devices/Technologies, Geriatrics/ Gerontology, Quality of Life/ Patient and Caregiver Experiences, Health Services Delivery.

A prize certificate and award of €1000 is presented at the closing ceremony.
