The ICS Board of Trustees is very pleased to announce that this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award (LTA) was awarded to Katherine Moore. The award is in recognition of Katherine’s outstanding lifetime service to urology and continence promotion, combined with her world-leading clinical and academic reputation and substantial contribution to the work of ICS.

During a long and distinguished career as a nursing leader in clinical practice, education and the advancement of science, Katherine has held a number of senior faculty positions at University of Alberta: Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Nursing, Associate Dean of Graduate Studies and Adjunct Professor of Medicine in the Department of Surgery for almost 15 years, up until retiring in 2013. Katherine now holds the position of Professor Emeritus, Faculty of Nursing at University of Alberta – where she taught thousands of nurses in the art and science of continence nursing.

Katherine has led, or been co-investigator on, around 30 grants related to bladder / bowel dysfunction or continence issues. She is first author/co-author on 90+ publications, 2 books and 6 edited chapters and has been a Cochrane Editor for many years. She was also a major contributor to the International Consultation on Incontinence (ICI) book over four editions.

Having been a member of the ICS for over 20 years, Katherine has made a significant contribution to the organisation; serving on many committees as well as chairing sessions, round tables and symposia at annual meetings. From 2005 – 2011 she was a member of the ICS Nursing Committee and then became an ICS Trustee in 2008 where she was elected for a second term, followed by a period on the Scientific Committee.

The well-deserved Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Katherine by ICS General Secretary, John Heesakkers, during our annual meeting in Toronto.
