The ICS Education Committee are pleased to announce that we are now accepting applications for the ICS 2018 Early Career Session.

The Early Career Session is a relaxed event with a combination of lectures and presentations which we think will be of great interest to those just starting their careers. Young ICS members will present lectures relating to research which will be followed by mock-podium style presentations from those with open-discussion eposters who then receive feedback on their presentation skills, slides and scientific content.

We have an expert panel at the event including Chris Chapple, Margot Damaser, Elise De, Marcus Drake and Alan Wein. We will also have a Keynote lecture by Margot Damaser and Elise De on "How to choose and be an excellent mentor".

Who is this session for?

The session is free and open to all disciplines, members and non-members regardless of whether you have had an abstract accepted. Its a great way to get some practical tips and listen to valuable feedback which you can take forward for your next presentation or research. The ICS defines an "Early Career Professional" as someone who has graduated or completed their education in their speciality field within the last 5 years but anyone is welcome to join the session, any age or discipline! You can apply to present your abstract to this session if you have had an Open Discussion ePoster accepted.

How to submit a paper for this session

If your abstract has been accepted as an open-discussion ePoster then please e-mail Tracy at the office by 27 July 2018 advising us of your abstract tracking number. All received abstracts will then be re-selected for presentation and reviewed by our panel of experts. If your abstract is re-selected you will be asked to present for 7 minutes which will be followed by 5 minutes of feedback.

Early career professional’s evening out!

Join us after the session at the Welcome Reception! Following the welcome reception all early career professional session attendees and speakers are invited to attend an evening out! Free tickets and information regarding the event will be provided at the end of the early career session. Please note delegates must attend the session to attend the evening out.
