The Urological Association of Northern Greece is organizing a series of events for the Continence Awareness Week in Thessaloniki, June 20-24, 2011
The Urological Association of Northern Greece is participating this year at the World Continence Week (WCW), which will be held under the auspices of the International Continence Society (ICS), aiming in the awareness of all the elderly citizens, the protection and treatment, and is organizing the Continence Awareness Week starting at June 20 up until June 24, 2011 in Thessaloniki. The events are supported by Academic Institutions, public hospitalization and public care institutions, as well as by several scientific associations. The events include informative seminars for the public, scientific conferences for research and for the presentation of new techniques for medical treatments, as well as communication for the awareness of the society and particularly the elderly.
The Continence Awareness Week is held under the auspices, in the context of their social policy, of the Prefecture of Central Macedonia, the Municipality of Thessaloniki, the Municipality of Pylaia-Panorama-Hortiatis, the Municipality of Ampelokipoi-Menemeni and the Municipality of Volvi. It is supported by the Urological Association of Northern Greece and Astellas.
"The knowledge, protection and care of a society towards our fellow citizens - elderly citizens - should always be of primary importance to all of us. Our goal is to never show neglection to the elderly or set them at the "margins of life", but on the contrary, to show that they can continue to enjoy life with dignity, energy, action and participation", stated the president of the Urological Association of Northern Greece, Mr. Stavros Charalampous, in regard to the Continence Awareness Week in Thessaloniki.
The events include throughout the week, free testings in at least 50 infirmaries in Thessaloniki (all those who are interested in getting tested for free can contact 0030 2310 534 198), events for the awareness of the public in the Municipalities of Thessaloniki, Menemeni-Ampelokipoi, Pylaia-Panorama-Hortiati, Neapoli and Volvi, as well as a pavilion, which will be located in Aristotelous Square and Ermou from June 20 through June 24, 2011.
For the publicity of the organization, the Urological Association of Northern Greece has set a dynamic communications program on all the Media, with continuous publications in the Press, radio and television spots, distributions of informative material to the public, radio and television interviews, advertisements on the buses of Thessaloniki, posters in public institutions, distribution of flyers in street markets, churches, elderly homes in Municipalities, hospitals and infirmaries of the city, construction of portals on the web (blogspot and facebook), invitations for the official seminar in Thessaloniki on June 22, invitations of the participating Municipalities to elderly citizens of their areas for special events, a Press Conference for the Media, etc.
The official event for the Continence Awareness Week in Thessaloniki is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, June 22, at 8:00 pm, in Makedonia hall of Electra Palace Hotel, hosting as main speaker the president of the Urological Association of Northern Greece, Mr. Stavros Charalampous.
