INUS: Lower urinary tract electrical sensory assessment: a dormant chance

Lower urinary tract (LUT) afferent pathways are crucial for LUT function. Their impairment can lead to dysfunction that deteriorates quality of life. Therefore, many therapies for LUT symptoms target LUT afferent pathways. However, still very little is understood about the function and integrity of such afferents in LUT dysfunction or symptoms. This is partly due to a lack of appropriate assessment tools. LUT electrical sensory assessment (LUTESA), comprising current perception threshold and sensory evoked potential measurement, is an available but under recognised diagnostic option. In this video we summarize and discuss the technique, current value, and future potential of LUTESA, a dormant chance to assess LUT afferent pathways in our patients.
