I spent four years of professional hard work and training. I performed over 400 animal surgical procedures including, but not limited to Sling surgery, Stress urinary incontinence model induction, vaginal distention, pudendal nerve transection, sling surgeries, Mice prostate cancer xenograft, periurethral injection, functional leak point pressure testing, Biomaterial subcutaneous implantation, blood collection, injectable treatments, animal feeding, postoperative care for survival surgeries, tissue harvesting and processing, fixation and staining of histological specimens), BLI imaging, Anesthesia, Drug injection, and euthanasia. I worked with commonly-used procedures within the field of molecular biology (media preparation, cell culture, cell passaging, maintenance of cell lines, knockdown, cell co-culturing, invitro treatment of cancer cells, MTT, western blot & ELISA). I shared in the coordination of clinical trials, patient interviewing, blood and urine sample collection and processing, data analysis and write-ups.
My mission included training of undergraduates and junior researchers, management of lab purchases and inventory, quality control and quality assurance, records and results of experiments and protocols, assistance in grant writing and submission. In my current position, we built up collaborations between CWRU Urology and the departments of Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biology, Pathology and Imaging/Radiology at CWRU.
I kept my clinical urological interest updated by clinical observation in University Hospitals of Cleveland during the fellowship. I attended over 250 CME hours of urology instructional courses during ICS annual meeting; Philadelphia 2018, AUA annual meetings; New Orleans 2015, San Diego 2016 and Boston 2017, Kidney and stones annual meetings (Cleveland clinic 2014,2015), Laser DUST course, Ann Arbor, MI 2015, Courses at ICS meeting 2015 workshops, Montreal, Canada and EAU online webcasts of annual meetings 2015, 2016 and 2017.
