I work as a Consultant Urological Surgeon working with special interest in Functional, Female, Reconstructive urology and Andrology.
Qualified in Baghdad then undertook basic surgical training in UK. Specialist urological training was in Glasgow, Brighton, Leicester, Coventry, Wolverhampton and Birmingham. Fellowship in Female, Functional and Reconstructive urology was undertaken at Bristol urological institute. MPhil degree was awarded from Newcastle University for research in laser capture microdissection in transrectal ultrasound guided prostate biopsy in 2012.
My practice specialises in the treatment of bladder dysfunction, male and female incontinence as well as erectile dysfunction and Peyronie’s disease. This include colposuspension, autologous fascial sling, TVT, male sling, artificial urinary sphincter implantation, urinary fistulae and diverticula surgery, bladder augmentation, bladder replacement and both continent and incontinent urinary diversion, penile implants and penile straightening procedures. I have particular interest in managing bladder overactivity, voiding dysfunction and pain syndromes. This includes medical therapy, Botox and sacral neuromodulation.
I was the clinical lead for sacral neuromodulation at Aneurin Bevan University Health Board and Wales, and the first provider of sacral neuromodulation to manage bladder overactivity, voiding dysfunction and pain syndromes in Wales.
I am a member of the British Association of Urological Surgeons (BAUS), European Association of Urology, International Continence Society, Royal College of Surgeons of Dublin, and British Medical Association.
