Currently I work as an academic clinician. I hold faculty appointments in both the Schools of Medicine and Rehabilitation Science at McMaster University. When I am not at McMaster, I am busy at my clinical practice, the World of my Baby (the WOMB), a perinatal care center. After completed my MScPT at McMaster University, I commenced clinical work as a physiotherapist but soon returned to academia to earn a PhD and a post-doctoral fellowship. My earlier academic work focused on health care system design related to team-based primary health care models and models of empowering individuals to become successful self-managers. In 2012 I undertook advanced clinical training in obstetrics and urogynecology in order to specialize in the area of pelvic health. Since this time my academic pursuits have aligned within the areas of women’s health and pelvic health, with perinatal care as a notable focus. I am an associate of Pelvic Health Solutions, the lead Canadian teaching organization for post-graduate pelvic health training for regulated health care professionals. Additionally, I am an active, invited Urogynaecology Committee member of the Society and Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Canada. Through my many participation in many internationals conferences, many of which involve invited speaking engagements, I value strongly the opportunity to reciprocally engage in knowledge translation efforts. I am an advocate for women’s health nationally and internationally.
