I am an MD and a PhD candidate in the Urology Department of the Erasmus Medical Center in Rotterdam. My research focuses on patients with urinary retention. The goal of our research is to improve care for patients who apply artificial drainage, mostly by clean intermittent catheterization, of the urinary bladder due to urinary retention. We mainly focus on electrical stimulation, such as sacral neuromodulation, but also on new ways of applying electrical stimulation to improve bladder emptying.
