Dr. Kraus is a Professor and Acting Chairman of the Department of Urology at the University of Texas Health San Antonio where he heads the Division of Female Urology, Neuro-Urology, and Voiding Dysfunction. In addition, Dr. Kraus heads the Neuro-Urology & Urodynamics Unit at the Spinal Cord Injury Center at the Audie Murphy VA Hospital and serves as medical director of the South Texas Pelvic Floor and Bladder Center.
Dr. Kraus completed his undergraduate education at Brandeis University in Waltham, MA. He then received his MD from the Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, a division of the University of Medicine and Dentistry in New Jersey, after which he completed his residency in urology, also at the Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. He completed a fellowship in NeuroUrology, Incontinence, and Urodynamics at the Baylor College of Medicine, in Houston, Texas.
A Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Dr Kraus is also a member of: the American Urological Association, the American Urogynecologic Society, the Society of Academic Urologists (SAU) the International Continence Society (ICS) and the Society of Urodynamics, Female Pelvic Medicine and Urogenital Reconstruction (SUFU). He is on the Board of Directors for SUFU and for the Texas Urological Society where he also serves as Chair of the Education Committee for both organizations.
Dr. Kraus has strong interests in education. He previously served as Program Director for the 2 year Fellowship in Female Urology, Neuro-Urology and Voiding Dysfunction at UTHSCSA. In addition, Dr. Kraus served on the American Urological Association Urology Core Curriculum Section for Neuropathic Bladder as well as the Education Committees for both the Society of Urodynamics and Female Urology and the Texas Urological Society. Dr Kraus has served as faculty for many post graduate courses including the AUA Annual Review Course and the AUGS/SUFU FPMRS Review course on topics including Neurourology, Female Urology, Overactive Bladder, Male Incontinence & Voiding Disorders and Urodynamics. He has served on the AUA Guidelines Panel on Urodynamics and the AUA Guidelines Panel on Female Stress Urinary Incontinence. Dr Kraus is co-chair of the AUA Guidelines Panel for Neurogenic Bladder and he is chair of SUFU OAB Clinical Care Pathway Project
