Why are you an ICS member: I've always believed that it is intellectually important to understand other points of view and other ways of doing things, including patient care and research. ICS has always provided a forum for challenging my own beliefs and habits. I have enjoyed the warm friendships and stimulating connections this international community offers. The on-going focus on improving continence for affected individuals has never wavered - ICS has stayed true to its mission.

Which was your first ICS meeting: Halifax, 1st - 4th September 1992

Special ICS memories: Not knowing about traffic in Egypt, one of my colleagues asked for a "drop-off" at her hotel following our workshop. Of course, I said yes - and wondered why the driver gave me a quizzical look - because I found out that it was one hour to her hotel, then one hour back before we could head to my hotel. Lessons learned!

Biggest influence: People who question dogma in a collegial and intellectually curious manner are stimulating - I am always stimulated by these individuals who make insightful inquiries during scientific discussions and challenge us to check our assumptions.
