Graduate of the University of Sao Paulo School of Medicine and did his urology residency at the same institution. Completed a fellowship In Urological Research at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Gomes has served on the faculty at the Hospital of Clinics of the University of Sao Paulo since 2000 and is an Associate Professor of Urology at the University of Sao Paulo School of Medicine. He is a leader in medical and surgical therapies for incontinence, prostate diseases and voiding dysfunction in women and men. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles as well as book chapters on these subjects. He has presented his research at national and international meetings and has been invited as a visiting professor in Brazil and other countries and participated in postgraduate courses. Dr. Gomes has been involved in clinical trials for new pharmacologic and surgical treatments for urinary incontinence, benign prostatic hyperplasia and neurogenic bladder. His current research interests focus on treatments for urinary incontinence, benign prostatic hyperplasia, neurogenic bladder, bowel dysfunction and sexual dysfunction. Dr. Gomes is a member of the American Urological Association, the Society for Urodynamics and Female Urology, the International Continence Society, International Neurourology Society and the Brazilian Association of Urology. He is a reviewer of a number of medical journals (Urology, Neurourology and Urodynamics, Advances in Urology, Journal of Urology, British Journal of Urology, International Braz J Urol, Clinics)
