MISSION STATEMENT

I have been a member of the ICS since 1983 when I received my urogynecology fellowship training in Australia. I founded the urogynecology subspecialty at the Chang Gung University Hospital after completion of the training and had returned to my country. I am very active in our community and almost attended annual meeting and present paper every year. The field of urogynecology, in particular pelvic floor muscle disorders has been burgeoning as of late. I have joined the "Pelvic floor Clinical Assessment Group of the ICS" since 2002 and coauthored a report from the group-- Standardization of terminology of pelvic floor muscle function and dysfunction: (Neurourul Urodyn 2005;24: 374-80.)
In order to disseminate information regarding international progress for the science of female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery for those urogynecologists in Asia, who are keeping pace with this field, the Pan-Asian Urogynecologic Association (PAUGA) was inaugurated in August 2005. Two consecutive biennial meetings; which was held in Taiwan and Hong Kong, respectively since the inauguration of the society.
Although there exist international organizations in this area such as the ICS and the IUGA, unfortunately the place for annual meetings are often too distant for Asian physician to attend. Thus, as the president of the PAUGA my MAIN MISSION for this standing as ICS trustee is to promote the acquisition of knowledge and improve the communication between the Asian urogynecologists/female urologists and the executive board of the ICS.
Last but not least, my study interests are various which include reconstructive pelvic surgery, anti-incontinence surgery, urogenital fistula repair, physiotherapy for urinary incontinence/OAB and basic research for mesh erosion/rejection. My editorial activity includes review scientific papers for the J Urol, Obstet Gynecol Am J Obstet Gynecol, Neurourol Urodyn, Urology and Int Urogyncol J and etc. Moreover, I have published 15 original articles in the past 5 years.

FEEDBACK TO SUGGESTIONS

I' ve no comments on those changes to be made to the Bylaws, except item 2.2.5. ; I think the trustee needs to define the limits of “external sources”.

Prof Alex C Wang declared on the Tuesday 22nd September 2015 that they did not have any existing or known future financial relationships or affiliations to disclose (NONE).
