Aims and objectives: This is an update and review of recent concepts in the diagnosis of pelvic floor disorders starting from the foundations of the clinical history and physical examination and a comprehensive review of diagnostic tools specific for urinary incontinence in male and female, pelvic organ prolapse and neurological conditions that can alter the lower urinary tract. A general discussion of management options moving form conservative treatments towards surgical management taking into account and evidence based approach.
