Tufan Tarcan, MD, PhD finished his medical education at Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa School of Medicine (1991) and urology residency at Marmara University (1996). He completed his fellowships in adult and pediatric neurourology in the United States (Boston University School of Medicine and Boston Children’s Hospital at Harvard Medical School, respectively). He holds a PhD degree at “Histology and Embryology” and his main area of interest is “Functional and Female Urology” and “Pediatric Lower Urinary Tract Dysfunction”.
Dr. Tarcan is Professor of Urology at Marmara University School of Medicine since 2006 and currently chairman of the Division of Pediatric Urology. He is also a Visiting Professor of Urology and Head of the Division of Functional and Female Urology at Koç University School of Medicine Istanbul, Turkey since 2013.
He is a member of the Urodynamics Committee at International Continence Society (ICS) and member of ICI Research Society and EAU Section of Functional and Female Urology (ESFFU). Dr. Tarcan is currently president of the Turkish Continence Society (TCS) and associate editor to Neurourology & Urodynamics, the official journal of ICS. He wrote 26 chapters in national or international books and has 81 and 62 publications in peer-reviewed international and national journals, respectively, leading to 967 citations and a “Web of Science” h-index of 16 as of July 2018.
