Dr. Oscar Martinez was Head of the Urodynamic and Pelvic Floor Section at Dr Carlos Arvelo Military Hospital in Caracas, Venezuela, until September 2017, when he moves to United States, because he granted a Pemanent Residents Status Based on Extraordinary Abilities Visa, as a Urologist
After completing his subspecialty training in urodynamics and pelvic floor surgery at the Urodynamics and Andrology Unit at Hospital Universitario de Caracas (HUC) in Caracas, Dr Martinez Silva joined Dr Carlos Arvelo Military Hospital in Caracas, where he progressed to assumeas a Teaching Coordinator and Program Director of Urology Residency Program until september 2017.
Dr Martinez Silva has a particular expertise in the management of overactive bladder. He has contributed to First and Second Venezuelan Consensus on Overactive Bladder, and co-authored a book entitled Current Issues in Urology with Dr Julio Potenziani. Dr Martinez Silva’s current research interests include urologic surgery, hypogonadism and erectile dysfunction, and heDr Martinez Silva received his medical training at Universidad Centroccidental Lisandro Alvarado in Barquisimeto. Following teaching appointments at several hospitals in the states of Lara and Portuguesa, Dr Martinez Silva undertook his specialty training in surgery at Hospital General Dr Jesús Yerena in Caracas, and went on to complete his urology training at Dr Domingo Luciani Hospital (also known as General Hospital East) in Miranda, Venezuela. has published widely on these topics.
Dr Martinez Silva is an active member of the Venezuelan Society of Urology, the American Urological Confederation and the European Association of Urology and the International Continence Society.
He has been lecturer and speaker in many meetings in his country and out of its borders, participated in round tables and expert panels in South . and Europe.
He was moderator of a Video Session at the 2017 Annual Meeting in Boston
