Professor Damien Bolton graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery in 1985
then trained in Urology via the RACS. He later completed a fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco, and rose to the level of assistant professor.

Prof Bolton has since become an accomplished urologist and academic, publishing more than 300 peer reviewed manuscripts and completing a PhD. He was the first Australian urologist to be awarded the Bard Silver Medal by the British Association of Urologic Surgeons (BAUS), and the first urologist recipient of the John Mitchell Crouch Fellowship from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.

In 2014, Prof Bolton’s academic accomplishments were acknowledged with a RACS award for excellence in surgical research. He has twice been awarded the Bruce Pearson Fellowship, the highest research award of the Urological Society of Australia and New Zealand.

Prof Bolton has served as Chair of the Cancer Council Victoria committee on Urogenital Cancer and co-chair of the Asia-Pacific Prostate Cancer Coalition, as well as on multiple international guidelines committees. He currently serves as Treasurer and member of the Board of Directors for the Societe International d’Urologie. He has been head of department for urology at Austin Health and the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Research and Wellness Centre since 2000.
