When you are trained as a urologist, being a woman you quickly end up in pediatric urology. In the meantime my daily work is divided 1:1 between pediatric and adult patients. Pediatric urology is one of my special areas of interest in research too and I have received awards for several projects like the ICS Best Clinical Presentation Award in 2003.
As a member of ICS, ICCS and ESPU and other memberships, for years I have tried to interface between these organisations, because I am convinced that there is a lot of knowledge to share and that we all can learn a lot of things from the different viewpoints of interdisciplinary societies - especially dealing with different age groups.
Since 2003 I have been a member of the Clinical Trials Committee and since 2005 a member of the Publications and Comunications Committee.
It is always better to walk over bridges instead of breaking them down.
