I have been a consultant at the Royal Free Hospital in London since 2010. In the course of my training, I was fortunate enough to have worked with giants of urology in London such as Julian Shah and Christopher Woodhouse, who were not just excellent clinicians, but great teachers as well. I have tried to incorporate some of their good points into my style of teaching. Lower urinary tract dysfunction including urinary incontinence, pelvic pain and UTIs is my main area of practice and my patients often compliment me for my clear communication. Over the years, over and above the knowledge acquired from books, journals and meetings, I have also gathered some personal clinical experience in these areas which means I can talk on these topics with a degree of confidence and comfort. Besides being a good communicator with fluency in English, I have had a formal qualification in medical education and am, therefore, familiar with principles of adult learning. I enjoy teaching and the feedback that I have received from undergraduates and delegates at some teaching events directed at primary care clinicians has often included passion and enthusiasm as my strengths. I very much look forward to being a part of the great work ICS is doing in raising awareness about conditions that may not be as emotive as cancer, but cause no less suffering nonetheless.
